Meet the "snow monsters" of Japan; nature's masterpiece. Juhyo are formed when a gust of wind from Serbia hits against the sea waters of Japan at -7 degrees Celsius. It then catches on to the Aomori-Todomatsu trees at the top of the hills and forms a thick blanket of snow. It's a splendid sight to be seen on the Zao mountain.
To view these wonders, journey to Tohoku Region, onto the summit of mount Zao via Miyagi or Yamagata prefectures. As you travel to the Miyagi Zao Sumikawa Snow Park, "Wild monsters" or heated snowmobiles will guide you on a tour to see and hear about the tales of the snow monsters. The best time of the year to go is during December until March.
