Shikoku Region is 1 of the 4 main islands of Japan. It is encompassed by the Seto Inland Sea and the Pacific Ocean. There are 4 prefectures in this region: Ehime, Kagawa, Tokushima, and Kochi. Nature flourishes on this island and the weather tends to be warm. Therefore, various vegetables are available for consumption all year round. Highlights in the area include its flavorful and delicious udon dishes and the original tastes of its shoyu sauce. Travel through the hills and woodlands and take a bike trip along its bicycle lanes. Or traverse along the 1,200 year old path of pilgrimage to a total of 88 historic temples. You can also explore the mystical small islands that surround the area.
You can travel to the Shikoku region from Osaka or Fukuoka prefectures, which both have direct flights from Thailand. From there, take the Shinkansen train to Okayama prefecture, which is located in the Chugoku region, and take a local train into Shikoku. Traveling by car is also convenient as there are 3 bridges which connect onto the Honshu Island.
